UNDERSTANDING THE LASH GROWTH CYCLE AND HOW IT AFFECTS YOUR LASH EXTENSIONS

To understand how to properly care for your lash extensions, it's important to understand the lash growth cycle. The lash growth cycle is the process that your natural lashes go through, and it can have a big impact on the life of your lash extensions. Here's what you need to know:

THE LASH GROWTH CYCLE

The lash growth cycle consists of four phases: the anagen phase, the catagen phase, the telogen phase and the exogen phase.

  1. ANAGEN PHASE The anagen phase is the active growth phase of your natural lashes. During this phase, your lashes are growing and getting longer. This phase lasts anywhere from 30 to 45 days.

  2. CATAGEN PHASE The catagen phase is the transition phase of the lash growth cycle. During this phase, your lashes stop growing and the follicle starts to shrink. This phase lasts around 2 weeks.

  3. TELOGEN PHASE The telogen phase is the resting phase of the lash growth cycle. During this phase, your lashes are not growing or shedding. This phase lasts around 100 days.

  4. EXOGEN PHASE After the telogen phase, your natural lashes enter the exogen phase, which is when they start to shed. This shedding process is completely normal and happens to everyone, regardless of whether or not they have lash extensions. During the exogen phase, your natural lashes will fall out and be replaced by new lashes that are growing in the anagen phase.

HOW THE LASH GROWTH CYCLE AFFECTS YOUR LASH EXTENSIONS

When you have lash extensions, the shedding process can be more noticeable because the extensions are attached to your natural lashes. As your natural lashes shed during the exogen phase, your lash extensions will fall out with them. This is why it's important to go for touch-ups every 2-3 weeks to maintain your lash look.

It's also important to note that everyone's lash growth cycle is different. Some people may shed more frequently than others, which can affect the lifespan of their lash extensions. However, by following proper aftercare instructions and being aware of the natural shedding process, you can ensure that your lash extensions last as long as possible.
